Yes, I walk a lot more now than I usually did in the past.

Yes, my legs aren’t as stiff as they used to be.

Yes, am more social now and I enjoy getting up and coming to the clubs because it gives me people to talk to, I live on my own so it’s good to get out and talk to people.

Have you made any lifestyle?
Yes, since joining the gardening club and walking club, I now walk a lot more and feel better for it.

I always enjoy the sessions because it keeps you fit and healthy.

Yes I do a lot of walking and try to walk to places as much as I can

Have you noticed any improvements in your fitness?
I have noticed great improvements, am getting up out of the chair a lot easier and I really benefit from the stretching part of the session.

Are you more social now?
I am defiantly more social, and I enjoy coming down and doing the activities with the other ladies.

Have you made any lifestyle changes?
I have made a decision to continue to be involved in Kick Start

I have stayed the same but am more active.

Did you enjoy the session?
Wow yes, I wouldn’t come if I didn’t enjoy them. I enjoy them for the social side more than anything as I don’t like being in the flat all the time on my own.

Are you more physically active?
I try to be but with me being in the wheelchair but the sessions I do here are better than nothing at all.

Have you noticed any improvements in your fitness?
Yes, with the wii fit I have more movement in my hand because I am using the controller.
I suffered from a stroke a couple of years ago which left me paralysed all down the right side of my body and I have to use a wheelchair, so anything that gets my muscles moving on my left side is great and my left side has improved with the resistance bands and the wii controller.

Are you more social now?
Yes, I love getting out of the flat, I think if you lived in a palace and didn’t get out you would still be very lonely.

Have you made any lifestyle changes?
I have diabetes, so I have made a lot of lifestyle changes.

Have you lost any weight?
It’s hard for me to lose weight because I am in the wheelchair and I have to eat every two hours with the tablets I am taking, but I have maintained my weight and that’s great!!

May has attended all the sessions.

Her skill in using the techniques has really sharpened.

May has been working on the leg strengthening,

She reported ‘putting on her stockings is so much easier’.

Her knees are not so sore now with the arthritis and the swelling has gone down.

May can visibly lift the leg from the hips with greater comfortable range of movement.

May is now climbing the stairs to her flat each day a real improvement for her.
